Mere hours from now, Rivers of Nihil will kick off their EU/UK headline tour in Berlin. And to celebrate this momentous occasion, the band’s fellow Reading, Pennsylvanians and direct support for the trek, Black Crown Initiate, have released a new song, “Years in Frigid Light.”
It’s the band’s first new song in three years (and first new song since signing with Century Media), but it will most definitely reward BCI fans for their patience. For one thing, it’s seven minutes long. For another, like all Black Crown Initiate music, it’s a kick-ass blend of styles that defies easy description or categorization. Some of it is shadowy, predatory death-prog, and some it is emotional and dreamy and more in the vein of Protest the Hero than Morbid Angel. ALL of it is epic. So, yeah. You’re gonna dig this.
